Orbicular
Orbicular is a distinct surface language within Glazed Landscape, characterised by concentric structures, layered monochrome glazes and circular forms. Appearing across a range of sculptural vessels and ceramic objects, the collection explores a recurring visual vocabulary through variations in scale, proportion and geometry.
Taking its name from forms that are circular, spherical and ring-like, Orbicular draws upon repeated observations of lunar light, shifting horizons and the changing relationship between sea and sky. Concentric structures and restrained monochrome glazes evoke cycles of movement and time, translating these quiet natural phenomena into a material language.
The works distil fleeting moments into sculptural ceramic forms. Reflections, tidal rhythms and the quiet geometry of the coast are translated into objects that invite prolonged looking, where subtle changes in light reveal new depths of surface and form.
